I can provide the following quilting styles to enhance your quilt top:
- Basic Large Meander {often referred to as a large "stipple" or puzzle meander.}
- Fancy Meander {flowers, simple feathers, fun designs, wavy in the ditch}
- Heirloom Quilting {stitch in the ditch, custom motifs, echo quilting, faux trapunto, Baptist Fans, shells, wineglass, close cross hatching, etc.}
- Cut-away Trapunto
Quilting Materials I Use:
Backing material:
I have backing available, ranging from 90” wide to 120” wide in Natural or White Muslin.
Threads:
I use Superior, Signature, Valdani, YLI and other quality threads. I carry 100% cotton, polyesters and metallic threads including variegated colors. When we meet, we will decide which thread(s) will compliment your quilt top.
Thread is included in the cost of the quilt except for specialty threads or variegated which are separately priced. I will match the thread shade to the overall quilt for best results, using the same thread for the top and bottom.
Batting:
You may provide your own batting or purchase it from me. I carry Quilters Dream Batting and Warm and White. Please call or e-mail me for pricing and to insure availability.
Quilt Top Preparation:
To assure the best finish follow these steps in preparation
for the
longarm machine quilting of your quilt top
- Press your quilt top and backing. It is very important to have all of your seams pressed flat.
- Keep all layers separate (top, batting and backing).
- Trim all loose threads and cut off all selvage edges.
- If your top has bias edges—Stay-stitch 1/8" in from the edge around the perimeter of your quilt top.
- Indicate the top of your quilt with a marked piece of paper attached with a safety pin.
- Please cut your backing and batting at least 3" larger than your top on all sides. Packaged batting need not be cut.
- Measurements of the quilt top will be taken before quilting to determine pricing
